Alone again tonight
Without someone to love
The stars are shining bright
So one more wish goes up
Oh I wish I may
And I wish with all my might
For the love I’m dreaming of
And missing in my life
You’d think that I could find
A true love of my own
It happens all the time
To people that I know
Their wishes all come true
So I’ve got to believe
There’s still someone out there who
Is meant for only me
I guess I must be wishing on
Someone else’s star
It seems like someone else keeps getting
What I’m wishing for
Why can’t I be as lucky
As those other people are
I guess I must be wishing
On someone else’s star
I sit here in the dark
And stare up at the sky
But I can’t give my heart
One good reason why
Everywhere I look
It’s lovers that I see
It seems like everyone’s in love
Everyone but me
I guess I must be wishing on
Someone else’s star
It seems like someone else keeps getting
What I’m wishing for
Why can’t I be as lucky
As those other people are
I guess I must be wishing
On someone else’s star
Why can’t I be as lucky
As those other people are
Oh, I guess I must be wishing
On someone else’s star

Stars
With all the weddings and engagements that have been going on lately, I've had Bryan White's song "Someone Else's Star" in my head for a while. At some point, I will outgrow this song. But for the time being, it still makes me sigh. I've met a lot of amazing guys over the years, but they all seem to end up with someone else. Don't get me wrong, I'm learning to be content with where God has placed me. But a girl can dream, can't she?

Wait for the Lord;
Be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.
Psalm 27:14
Easier said than done, I know. But I find myself being encouraged by this verse throughout all of life. I know that you are being faithful to God and I am certain He has amazing blessings in store for you.
This reminds me of the time that I shared a Billy Holiday song with Kristin (way before Matt and her Master's degree was completed). The lyrics go something like
"A hugging and a kissing, oh what I've been missing. Oh lover man where can you be?"
I told her that's how I was feeling and she laughed and said, "No you don't."
good times.
Nothing like cheesy Bryan White songs to add some clarity to our lives, right?
I guess we're "Sittin' on Go." Maybe someday we can say "So Much for Pretending" and finally be someone's "Rebecca Lynn." With any luck, it won't end up with us saying "I'm Not Supposed to Love You Anymore," and singing "That's Another Song."
And if we're really lucky, we won't ever have to hear his duet with Shania Twain for as long as we live.
In the meantime, we do have to trust that what God has planned for us is BEST. Not good, or amazing or wonderful, (although I do think it will be those things), BEST. So let's be strong and take heart, and keep the country music playing!!! :)
