Hymns

I liked this comment about one of the hymns:
“The line 'Whate’er I need in Jesus dwells, and there it dwells for me.' is a powerful reminder of the fact that what we are often looking to idols to get (peace, hope, security etc.) we already have in Jesus! Getting this truth on your heart is the key to letting go of our idols and turning to Jesus."

Man, how true that is. Why do we search for our own answers, when all we need and all that could ever satisfy is found in Christ? How easy it is to forget that God has our best interests in mind, and more importantly, His best interests in mind. The next time you find yourself complaining about your life and going after idols, take a step back and realize that true peace, true hope, true security, is found in Christ and Christ alone. Not money, not jobs, not fame, not relationships, not cars, looks, or even intelligence. It's hard to truly understand that, but until we do, we'll be like hamsters, stuck in a cage, spinning our wheels, and getting nowhere.
